I can't believe it, but summer is just around the corner and the unofficial start to barbecue season is this weekend... Whether you're the grill master or hosting your first cookout, here are a couple of recipes that combine 2 of our favorite things at Unleashed Coffee - food and coffee!
Coffee BBQ Dry Rub
This dry rub is easy to make and adds great flavor to your favorite meat, chicken or fish - and even tofu for our vegan friends.
Ingredients
3 parts finely ground Unleashed Coffee (my picks: Espresso or Morando)
3 parts brown sugar
1 part chili powder
2 parts sea salt
1 part fresh, coarsely ground black pepper
1 part onion powder
1/2 part garlic powder
Simply whisk together all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Shake the rub onto both sides of your protein of choice, grill and enjoy!

Coffee BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
8 garlic cloves, minced
2 cups ketchup
1 cup cider vinegar
1 cup coffee blossom honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup medium or dark roast coffee (my picks: Espresso or Morando)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
In a large saucepan, add the onion and sauté until tender. Add the garlic and cook 2 minutes longer. Stir in the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and let simmer, uncovered, for 35 - 45 minutes (or until desired consistency), stirring occasionally. Let it cool. Puree in a blender or food processor until smooth. Enjoy!
